Register your trackers in Device Manager
Keep each GPS or telematics device identifiable before linking it to equipment. Start with the provider’s device details so a similarly named tracker doesn’t end up on the wrong asset.
1. Open the device register
Go to Settings > Devices. Check the register before adding hardware that may already be listed, then choose Add device for a new tracker.
2. Match the provider and device type
In New Device, choose the Provider and Device type that match the hardware you’re registering. Confirm these with your supplier if you’re unsure.
3. Enter the device identifier
Copy the provider’s identifier into Device ID. Add an optional Name that your team will recognise. The form also offers Add multiple when you’re preparing several devices.
4. Check the setup before using its data
Review the details before choosing Save device. After registration and asset linking, confirm that the expected device is reporting and check the time of its latest update.
Setup and limits
- The example shows the unsaved New Device form. A registered device still needs the appropriate hardware, connection and asset link before it can supply data.
- Available readings depend on the device and integration. Confirm the reading and unit before using it for servicing or reports.
Start with the device provider and model
Choose the provider and device type, then enter the identifier supplied with your tracker. Registration is followed by linking the device to an asset.

Use the asset record and Telematics for different questions
MapTrack sells and supports the connected workflow. The app shows each asset’s latest position; live GPS, geofences, trips and location history run in MapTrack Telematics.
1. Check the device and reporting interval
Choose hardware for the equipment, power source and reporting requirement. A displayed last position is a received update, so check its timestamp before treating it as the current physical location.
2. Use Telematics for movement and site events
Define the site boundary and inspect entry, exit, trip and time-on-site information in MapTrack Telematics. Check the device configuration and reporting frequency when interpreting an event.
3. Keep the operational record connected
Use the MapTrack asset record for its latest position alongside the equipment’s forms and maintenance. Confirm the required meter and reading source before using device data to drive servicing.
Setup and limits
- Location freshness and event timing depend on the device, configuration, coverage and reporting interval. Time inside a boundary is not, by itself, productive working time.
