Test equipment moves between jobs with no tracking

Multimeters, cable testers and thermal cameras get left on a job, borrowed by another crew or sit in the wrong van. Without a clear chain of custody you lose visibility and end up buying replacements for gear that’s still in the business somewhere.

Calibration due dates missed across the fleet

When calibration certificates live in filing cabinets or scattered spreadsheets, due dates slip. Using out-of-calibration test equipment on a job creates compliance risk, inaccurate readings and potential rework, and you won’t know until it’s too late.

What it asks for
HSE says the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require electrical equipment that could cause injury to be kept safe, but don't set a test interval: how often depends on the equipment and where it's used, so a power tool on a construction site is checked more often than a lamp in a hotel room. Labels and records aren't a legal requirement, though HSE calls them a useful way to manage the scheme and show it exists.

Test and tag: Inspecting and electrically testing portable electrical equipment, then fixing a tag that shows who tested it, when, and when it's next due. In Australia and New Zealand it's done to AS/NZS 3760.
RCD push-button and trip-time tests: A push-button test is the quick user check that a residual current device trips when its test button is pressed. A trip-time test uses an instrument to measure how fast it trips, and is done by a competent person on a longer interval.
PAT (portable appliance tester): The instrument used for test and tag. It checks earth continuity and insulation resistance and, on many models, leakage current.
Calibration certificate: The record from a calibration lab that an instrument's readings were checked against a reference standard, with the date and the results.
Out of cal: A tester or meter past its calibration due date. Its readings shouldn't be relied on for test results until it has been recalibrated.
Assured equipment grounding conductor program: OSHA's US alternative to GFCI protection on construction sites: a written program of daily visual checks and regular tests of cord sets and cord-and-plug equipment, with a test record for each item.
