How BLE beacons extend your tracking coverage indoors
GPS tracking works brilliantly outdoors, but signals cannot penetrate buildings, underground spaces, or dense industrial environments. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons solve this by creating an indoor positioning layer that works alongside your existing MapTrack GPS trackers.
Each beacon broadcasts a unique identifier at regular intervals. When a MapTrack GPS tracker with built-in Bluetooth scanning (such as the Oyster Edge, G70 BLE, or Dart3) detects a beacon, it logs the beacon ID alongside its own GPS position and reports both to the MapTrack platform. This means you can track tools moving from a job site (GPS) into a warehouse (Bluetooth) and back out again, all on one dashboard with no manual scanning required.
For zone-based tracking, mount a Bluetooth-enabled tracker at each zone entry point (e.g. tool crib, loading dock, workshop bay). As beacon-tagged assets pass through each zone, MapTrack records the transition and updates the asset location in real time. This is ideal for warehouse inventory management, construction site tool tracking, and mine site asset control.
