What is tyre management software?

Tyre management software (also spelled tire management software) tracks the condition, cost and lifecycle of every tyre across a fleet. MapTrack records tread depth, pressure, cost per kilometre and age for each fitted tyre, maps tyres to their position on a vehicle in 2D and 3D, and flags a Good, Monitor or Replace status so teams replace tyres before they fail and control cost per km across the fleet.

What does tyre management involve day to day?

Keeping a fleet’s tyres safe and their cost under control: regular tyre checks, getting damaged tyres fixed, running rotations and replacements on time, and recording what the tyres cost. In MapTrack, tyre checks run as a form on the phone, a failed check can raise a job for the workshop, rotations can run on kilometre intervals, and tyre spend sits in the vehicle’s cost history.

What does MapTrack track for each tyre?

Each tyre on the vehicle has its own record: tread depth in millimetres, pressure in psi, cost per kilometre, age, fitment position (for example Drive Right Outer), and a full history of inspections, rotations and replacements. The Overview panel rolls these up per vehicle into average tread, average pressure, average cost per km and total spend, plus how many tyres need attention.

How is the Good, Monitor or Replace status set?

Status is derived from tread depth against the thresholds you set per axle or tyre type, with pressure taken into account. Tyres above your safe-tread threshold show Good, tyres approaching it show Monitor, and tyres below the legal or replacement limit show Replace. The colour-coded 2D and 3D views and the Overview panel make tyres that need attention obvious at a glance.

What can a MapTrack tyre check include?

Whatever you need to ask. A tyre check is a form you build: tread depth, pressure, damage, wheel nuts, rims and valve caps can each be a question you set, along with photos, notes, an odometer reading and the inspector’s signature. Operators fill it in on their phone, and you can change the questions as your process changes.

Is there a ready-made tyre inspection template?

Can pressure and usage come from telematics, or is it manual?

Both. Operators can record tread and pressure manually during a quick or detailed inspection on the mobile app, including photos. Where telematics or OEM data is available and configured, usage and related readings can feed in to keep cost per km and lifecycle current without manual entry. MapTrack connects to a wide range of telematics and management data sources.

Are photos and signatures saved with a tyre check?

Yes. A photo of a damaged tyre and the inspector’s signature are saved with the check and printed on its PDF, so the record of what was found, and who found it, stays with the vehicle. That works offline too: operators can run a tyre check, capture photos and sign it off on remote sites with no connection, and the check syncs when the phone is back online.

Does a tyre check record where it was done?

Yes, when the phone shares its location. The saved check shows a map pin and the street address on the record, and its PDF prints the address and GPS coordinates. If location permission is denied on the phone, the check still saves without it.

How do tyre inspections link to maintenance and work orders?

A quick inspect captures tread and pressure fast, while a detailed inspection adds photos and notes per position. When a tyre hits Replace, you can raise a work order linked to that vehicle straight from the inspection, so the job is tracked through to completion in the same platform as the rest of your maintenance and pre-start inspections.

What happens when a tyre check fails?

A failed answer can raise a job for the workshop through an automation rule you set, linked to the vehicle and to the check that found the problem. If the same check fails again while that job is still open, the new report can be added to the open job instead of raising a second one.

Can one work order cover tyre checks across the fleet?

Yes. One work order can cover many vehicles, each with its own pass or fail. That suits a monthly tyre round in the yard: one job for the whole round, with each vehicle’s result recorded on its own.

Can tyre rotations and replacements run on kilometres?

Yes. Put tyre rotations and replacements on a kilometre interval in a service schedule, and on an automatic schedule MapTrack raises the work order when the interval is reached. An odometer reading answered on a tyre check for that vehicle updates its meter, and kilometres can also come from GPS trackers, AI dash cams (estimated from trips), OEM feeds or manual readings. Tracker and dash cam figures are estimates.

How is tyre spend tracked?

Record labour, parts (the tyres themselves) and external costs on each service record, for example a tyre replacement or a puncture repair by an outside tyre shop. That spend rolls into the vehicle’s cost history, and a per-asset total cost of ownership report is available in MapTrack Telematics.

Does it work for trucks, trailers and heavy plant?

Yes. You build the axle layout to match the asset: steer and drive axles, single or dual wheels, and as many axles as the vehicle has. That covers rigid trucks, prime movers, trailers, water carts, graders and other heavy plant. Tracked machines without tyres are simply managed through the rest of MapTrack.

Does tyre management work offline in the field?

Yes. The MapTrack mobile app supports offline use, so operators can inspect tyres, record tread and pressure and capture photos on remote sites with no connection. Results sync to the dashboard automatically when the device is back online, the same as the rest of the platform.

Where do tyre checks, jobs and costs live in MapTrack?

On the vehicle’s record. Each vehicle carries its tyre checks, the jobs those checks raised, its tyre rotations and replacements, and their cost, alongside its pre-starts, servicing, location and the rest of its history.

Is tyre management part of the same platform as the rest of the fleet?

Yes. Tyres sit on each vehicle’s record alongside its pre-starts, inspections, maintenance, location and costs, in the same platform that tracks your tools, plant, equipment and trailers.

Can dash cam events sit beside each vehicle’s servicing records?

Yes. AI dash cams show saved event clips in MapTrack, beside the vehicle’s pre-starts, servicing and costs. Connect your AI dash cam account and MapTrack imports the cameras, shows their latest position and safety events, and estimates kilometres and drive hours from completed trips.

Can vehicle servicing follow kilometres from trackers or dash cams?

Yes. Run hours and kilometres come from GPS trackers, AI dash cams (estimated from trips), OEM and telematics feeds or manual readings. MapTrack works out each asset’s usage rate from its recent readings and estimates when the next meter service will fall due. It also flags meters whose readings are out of date, or whose estimated due date has passed without a new reading, so services don’t slip between readings.
