A Verizon Connect alternative for tools, plant and vehicles

Reviewing your fleet platform is a chance to bring the rest of your equipment into the decision. MapTrack combines tracking with bookings, pre-starts, maintenance and custody for the vehicles, machines, trailers and tools your crew uses.

MapTrack brings tools, plant, trailers and vehicles into one platform. Track them with QR, barcode and Data Matrix labels, Bluetooth tags, GPS trackers and AI dash cams, then keep their bookings, inspections and maintenance on the asset record.

MapTrack is worth shortlisting as a Verizon Connect alternative when you want tracking, equipment bookings, inspections and maintenance in one operating record. For Australian and New Zealand Reveal or Fleet customers, Geotab’s migration programme is also part of the decision. Compare that route with the workflow you want, your current devices and the contract you have.

Prepared by MapTrack from the linked official product pages, checked on 20 October 2026. This is a workflow comparison, not a hands-on test of the other platform. Hardware, features and commercial terms vary by account, plan and region.

What is Verizon Connect?

Verizon Connect is a fleet management and telematics provider. Its public product documentation covers vehicle tracking, trip history, geofences, driver behaviour, dash cameras and powered or non-powered equipment tracking. Its inspection and maintenance tools also belong in your evaluation. See Verizon Connect fleet tracking and Verizon Connect asset tracking.

For Australia and New Zealand, the commercial and migration context has changed. Geotab’s regional transition notice applies to existing Reveal and Fleet customers. It is not evidence that Verizon Connect has closed globally, or that your current equipment will work unchanged with another vendor. Confirm devices, history, integrations and dates before choosing a route.

When it’s worth looking at MapTrack

Start with the jobs your crew needs to get through each day. These are reasons to test MapTrack against your workflow.

A migration is already on the agenda

If your account is in the affected region, use the transition plan to review the whole workflow and renewal dates. Set aside time to validate records and train the crew.

You manage more than the tracked vehicles

Bring tool kits, attachments, trailers and machines into the same review. MapTrack links their location, custodian, bookings and inspections to the equipment record.

The workshop needs the field history

Give the person doing the repair the pre-start result, service plan and past jobs for that asset. Test the defect-to-task rule as part of the pilot.

Equipment costs need a clearer home

MapTrack’s Pro and Enterprise add-ons cover rate cards, finance and asset-scoped divisions. Include the required add-ons in the quote and demonstration.

What MapTrack brings together

Who needs it next, and who has it now?

Bookings and custody sit beside the equipment record.

Book equipment through Requests, use optional approval and check the planning view for conflicts. At pick-up, turn the booking into a check-out. The crew can see who has the item before organising the next job. These actions need a connection.

Can the crew use the forms they already know?

Build forms with AI from a PDF or a short description, then review and attach them to the right assets.

Keep pre-start answers, photos and sign-offs with the machine. For a failed check, create a linked task or configure and test a form-result rule for the follow-up you need. The original inspection result stays in the record.

Can maintenance follow the hours on the machine?

Set tiered service plans and raise work orders from meter readings when configured.

Keep 250, 500 and 1,000-hour services in one plan, with the correct procedure and parts for each level. One work order can cover several assets with a pass or fail for each. For date-based work, review what is due and raise the job from the schedule.

Where do tracking and video fit?

Choose the tracking method for the asset, and keep camera footage with its operating record.

GPS trackers report location and device health; tracker-derived run hours and kilometres are estimates. AI dash cam live view and saved event clips are available in the MapTrack app, depending on camera and plan. Live GPS, trip history and geofence alerts run in MapTrack Telematics.

Can we bring hire rates and costs into the same system?

Rate cards, finance and divisions are available as Pro and Enterprise add-ons only.

Set daily, weekly or monthly hire rates for dry, wet or standby hire, by asset or category, and record the hire cost when equipment returns. Finance keeps cost ledgers for assets, locations and people, with budget vs actual, depreciation and repair-or-replace guidance. Divisions separate assets and team access, with account-owner oversight.

Where Verizon Connect is worth considering

Keep the capabilities that already work for your operation in the decision.

A fleet workflow you already use

Vehicle location, trips, driver information and integrated video may already support daily dispatch and safety work. Keep those requirements explicit when testing a replacement.

Equipment tracking beyond vehicles

Verizon Connect documents tracking for machinery, trailers, containers and other powered or non-powered equipment. Include those devices in your migration inventory.

A defined regional migration route

Affected customers have a Geotab programme to discuss with their account contact. Compare its hardware, data and training plan before deciding to replace the platform.

Choose around the work you need to do

Choose MapTrack if you…

  • You want tools, plant, trailers and vehicles tracked, booked, inspected and maintained in one platform.
  • Your equipment moves between crews and jobs, and bookings and custody are part of the daily routine.
  • You want one work order across several assets, each with its own pass or fail.
  • You need hire rate cards, finance or asset-scoped divisions as Pro or Enterprise add-ons.

Consider Verizon Connect if you…

  • •Your current vehicle tracking, video and driver workflows meet your needs, and the proposed transition preserves them.
  • •You want to evaluate Geotab’s offered migration with your current account contact before buying another system.
  • •Your decision depends on fleet or driver requirements that should be demonstrated on the exact regional package.

Compare the full rollout cost

MapTrack

MapTrack prices software per asset with unlimited users. Check the current plans against your asset mix and workflow. GPS hardware, cameras, connectivity and setup need to be scoped. Rate cards, finance and divisions are available now as add-ons on Pro and Enterprise only. Each division has its own assets and team access, while account owners can see across divisions.

Verizon Connect

Use your current agreement and the written migration proposal to compare cost. Ask about device ownership, installation, renewal dates, termination obligations, data retention, camera subscriptions and integration charges. The migration notice does not establish a universal customer price or cancellation term.

Ask for software, hardware, installation, data, support, integrations and any overlapping subscriptions to be itemised. Compare the same assets and period. No universal contract term, saving or break-even result is assumed.

Plan a move around the asset record

Start with your account’s transition plan and renewal dates. Keep daily tracking and required records available while you test the next system.

1

Get the account-specific transition plan

Ask your account contact for your deadline, hardware route, integration mapping, training and history arrangements. Keep the response with your migration checklist.

2

Inventory the devices and records

List asset IDs, tracker and camera models, installed units, reports, geofences and integrations. Confirm what you can export and retain before making changes.

3

Pilot MapTrack on one site

Run bookings, check-outs, pre-starts and service records on representative equipment. Scope data feeds and hardware compatibility with the team, then verify the agreed fields.

4

Move only after the checks pass

Reconcile asset IDs, assignments and the historical records you need. Agree the operational cutover, train users and handle hardware and subscription changes against your written terms.

Prove it with a small pilot

Use a vehicle, a machine, a trailer and a tool kit from one site. Agree what a successful booking, inspection and service record looks like before you start.

  • ✓MapTrack: Book and check out equipment, submit a pre-start, test one configured defect follow-up, enter a meter reading and inspect the saved service record. Load forms and work orders while you have reception. Crews can complete forms and record procedures and per-asset pass or fail outcomes on a loaded work order offline, then sync when reconnected. Adding costs, moving a work order to Completed, bookings, check-outs and returns need a connection.
  • ✓Verizon Connect: Confirm your region, migration deadline and proposed MyGeotab setup. Demonstrate the video, driver and equipment workflows you rely on, and check what happens to historical reports, integrations and each installed device.

Other routes worth comparing

A replacement is only one option. Choose the route that fits your existing equipment and the work you want to improve.

Evaluate the offered MyGeotab migration

Use the account-specific proposal as one option, with a pilot of the workflows and records you need to retain.

Keep telematics and add MapTrack workflows

If the future tracking setup is Geotab, scope its MapTrack integration before replacing hardware. Agree the fields, update timing and account requirements.

Methodology and sources

We compared official vendor documentation with MapTrack’s published product information and dated capability confirmations. Recommendations describe buyer fit; they are not measured performance rankings.

A feature that was not established by the reviewed sources is marked for verification, not treated as absent. Confirm the quoted configuration on your own assets.

Frequently asked questions: Verizon Connect vs MapTrack

MapTrack is worth shortlisting as a Verizon Connect alternative when you want tracking, equipment bookings, inspections and maintenance in one operating record. For Australian and New Zealand Reveal or Fleet customers, Geotab’s migration programme is also part of the decision. Compare that route with the workflow you want, your current devices and the contract you have.

No. Geotab’s 1 October 2025 announcement covers commercial operations in Australia and named European markets. It specifically excludes product, engineering and other non-sales teams. That announcement does not establish a worldwide acquisition of every Verizon Connect business.

Geotab’s migration page says existing Reveal and Fleet customers in Australia-NZ, Europe and the UK need to move to MyGeotab before the end of March 2027. Confirm your account’s schedule and requirements with your account contact.

That depends on your device models, ownership, contract, export access and the destination system. MapTrack’s team can scope the proposed setup. Validate a sample import and the agreed telemetry fields before assuming that devices or complete history can move unchanged.

Load forms and work orders while you have reception. Crews can complete forms and record procedures and per-asset pass or fail outcomes on a loaded work order offline, then sync when reconnected. Adding costs, moving a work order to Completed, bookings, check-outs and returns need a connection.

No. They are available now as add-ons on Pro and Enterprise only. Divisions cover assets and team access, with account owners able to see across divisions.

MapTrack’s AI dash cams have GPS built in, so a truck with one runs without a separate tracker: the camera’s location and trips land on the truck’s record in MapTrack, beside its pre-starts, servicing and costs. Run hours and kilometres from the camera feed the truck’s meters, so its servicing follows real use.

Yes. Connect a LightMetrics dash cam account and MapTrack imports the cameras, shows their latest position and safety events, and estimates kilometres and drive hours from completed trips. Run hours and kilometres come from GPS trackers, AI dash cams, OEM and telematics feeds or manual readings, and work orders can be raised automatically from meter readings, run-time hours and GPS or OEM data feeds.

Yes. SAML 2.0 single sign-on, set up by our team, works with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Okta, Google Workspace and other SAML 2.0 identity providers, and new users join automatically the first time they sign in. It’s included on Enterprise and available as a Pro add-on.
