How is the wizard tailored to my industry?
Each industry profile in the wizard maps to a working pattern observed across MapTrack customers in that vertical. For construction we recommend yellow plant + light vehicles + power tools + safety equipment as top-level groupings because that's how site supervisors actually navigate. For mining we lead with heavy plant Tier 1 + drill rigs + ground support + standby plant because that's how shutdown planning is organised. For fire safety the AS 1851 schedule frequency is the most important custom field because audit prep depends on it. The categories, naming convention, custom fields and example rows are all industry-specific.
Can I customise the recommendations?
Yes. The wizard output is a starting point; everything is editable in MapTrack. Add or remove categories, rename them, add custom fields, change the ID format. The point of the wizard is to skip the blank-page paralysis with a tested structure, not to lock you into one.
Does the wizard create the register in MapTrack automatically?
Not directly from this page. The wizard displays the recommendation. To create it: (1) start a 30-day free trial, (2) paste your existing asset list into the import wizard inside MapTrack (it auto-maps columns to the categories shown), or (3) download the Asset Register Template (Excel + PDF) and use it as a baseline CSV.
What if my industry is not in the dropdown?
Select "Other" and use the generic recommendations as a starting point. Contact support@maptrack.com or book a setup call and we can produce a tailored register for any vertical (we've done healthcare, education, government, hospitality, retail, marine and others).
How long should it take to set up the register?
Most teams get from blank to operational asset register in: Day 1 - decide structure (the wizard does this in 5 minutes). Week 1 - bulk import existing assets (CSV paste, MapTrack auto-maps columns). Week 2 - print and apply QR labels to top 100-200 assets. Week 3 - roll out to the field crew for sign-out workflow. Month 1 - first inspection cycle complete. Anyone telling you it takes 6 months is either selling consulting or has the wrong tool.
