You'll need
- A part with an active source stock bin
- A checked quantity available to issue
- A saved person or location for a tracked issue
Steps
Check the part and source bin
Open Parts/Inventory and the part record. Review On Hand, Reserved and Available stock at the intended source bin. Confirm the physical items and units before choosing a quantity.
Choose the issue mode
Open Issue and select the exact source bin. Choose immediate consumption for stock used up at issue, or assignment custody when you need to track it until it is returned or consumed.
Good to know: An issue on custody is not the same as consumption. The outstanding quantity remains deployed against the assignment.
Record the destination and quantity
For tracked custody, choose the saved person and/or location, quantity and a useful note. If consuming immediately at Other destination, supply the external destination and the required note. Check the movement before saving.
Check the saved custody
Reopen the part and its Deployed view. Check the outstanding quantity and assignment context. Open the linked assignment to reconcile what has been issued rather than treating a lower bin balance as the entire stock position.
Return or consume the actual quantity
Use the assignment reconciliation controls for stock that comes back or is used. For a return, select an active destination bin and the quantity physically returned. The original source bin is preselected only if it is still active.
Reconcile the final records
Check the part’s transactions, bin balance and remaining deployed custody. For example, issuing six and returning two leaves four outstanding until a further return or consumption is recorded. That arithmetic is illustrative, not a customer result.
What you should see
Stock movements, the active bin balance and outstanding assignment custody explain where the issued quantity went.
Current limits
- Stock movements and assignment reconciliation require a connection.
- Available stock, on-hand stock and deployed custody describe different quantities. Do not add reserved stock to on hand a second time.
- StockSense supports usage and reorder decisions; it does not establish that a purchase order was placed.
