AS 1891.4:2025 Mandatory Requirement: A maximum service life of 10 years from date of manufacture applies to all textile components (harnesses, lanyards, energy absorbers, anchorage slings). Equipment must be removed from service regardless of condition once this limit is reached. Equipment with unknown manufacture date or missing labels must be immediately retired.

Condemned Equipment Disposal Requirements: Condemned equipment must be: (1) cut through main webbing to prevent re-use, (2) marked with a red "CONDEMNED" tag, (3) removed from accessible storage immediately, and (4) disposal recorded below with date and method. Never place condemned equipment in general waste where it could be retrieved.
